I discovered running in 2004 and was immediately fascinated by how the body works and how it can adapt and improve given certain stimuli. I was keen to improve my technique so after much research soon adopted the Chi Running® method.
My current training programme includes a marathon maintenance running schedule alongside regular gym work, focussing on strength and power, core stability, posture and flexibility. Alongside running technique I focus on kettlebell and ViPR training as both are great whole body workouts and compliment my approach to running training.
I also focus on minimalist shoe and barefoot work in both my running and resistance training. I believe this promotes better posture, proprioception and balance, helping develop a stronger core and more natural movement.
In May 2010 I attended a workshop with Danny Dreyer, founder of ChiRunning®. This encouraged me to train to become one of only a handful of Certified ChiRunning Instructors in the UK. During certification I assisted Master Instructors Marion Meesters in Amsterdam (May 2012) and Catherina McKiernan in Dublin (June 2012). I became fully certified as a Chi Running Instructor in August 2012.
I have run several half marathons (PB 01:39:44 – March 2011), numerous 10ks (PB 00:45:28 – May 2010) and the 2010 Virgin London Marathon (03:59:49).
